… and we’re off!

Our route to Atlantic City

Greetings from a McDonald’s parking lot somewhere in the middle of Maryland. Jen has crawled into the back to rest for a bit, so I thought I’d take a moment to kick off my week of blogging about my first trip to “The National”.

Let me start this off by getting this out of the way right out of the gate … I have definitely outkicked my coverage when it come to this woman I love. This trip was her idea, she surprised me on Valentines day with two VIP tickets to The National. She has been as excited as me as this week has approached. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive partner when it comes to this hobby we both love.

Anyway back to the trip. After both of us working a full day yesterday, we left the house at around 11:00 pm last night, both too excited to get to Atlantic City to wait until this morning to leave.

It didn’t take long for the trip to become eventful as we weren’t very far into West Virginia when we got pulled over by a WV state trooper… seems the rental car she picked up yesterday has expired tags (thanks National.) Fortunately the trooper was a UK fan, so we got sent on our way with “have a safe trip”

We drove through the night, stopping when we felt like it, having great conversations, and enjoying only our 2nd road trip like this together.  Daybreak brought a stop for breakfast and an little rest after the meal.

She’s awake now after the short nap, so it’s time to get back on the road. I’m like a little kid, I’m so looking forward to this experience,  and hope you enjoy following along.
